The easiest way to reach me in Zambia is via email. The best address to use is my personal account, jbenton@toast.net. I can access my work account (jbenton@dallasnews.com) too, but use the toast.net address.

The other way to reach me is my cell phone. The number is +260 097 815475. (In the U.S., I believe that means you have to dial 011 260 097 815475. 260 is the country code.) I may be able to accept text messages on that phone -- we'll see. Unfortunately, cell coverage in Zambia is limited, so there will be stretches over the six weeks I'm here where I won't be able to answer my phone.

Welcome to zambiastories.com, the online journal I kept during the six weeks I spent in Zambia in 2003 as part of a Pew Fellowship in International Journalism. The entries below are in reverse chronological order — most recent on top, oldest on bottom.
